The State Agency for Immovable Property and Real Estate Management (or “LIG”), is committed to maintaining the high quality of life in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg both today and in the future. Thanks to an extensive overview of the municipal real estate portfolio, the LIG can identify, purchase, develop and provide potential areas for residential, office and commercial usage.

The creation and preservation of affordable living space is playing an increasingly important role. To meet this challenge, the LIG issues invitations to tender for subsidized, privately financed - so that Hamburg remains a city for everyone in the future. This is why the LIG is increasingly allocating municipal properties via heritable building rights to preserve sustainable design and development opportunities for tomorrow.

The role of the LIG goes far beyond the provision of spaces and affordable living space: The development and realization of projects belong to the portfolio of tasks as well as a strategic portfolio management and (strategic) purchase negotiations. In doing so, the LIG works closely with other authorities as well as with external partners.

Through these and other measures, the LIG and its team of over 250 highly qualified employees are making an important and tangible contribution to maintaining Hamburg as a liveable city. The professions of LIG's employees are as varied as the fields in which it works: administrative experts, urban planners, geodesists, lawyers, economists, real estate specialists, engineers and other professional groups are all highly committed to the interests of the city of Hamburg and combine their efforts to shape the real estate landscape. The LIG's agenda is filled with exciting challenges and a great deal of variety - all in a modern working environment centrally located in the heart of the city.
