HafenCity Hamburg: The European City of the 21st Century
Europe's largest inner-city waterfront development project is being built on 127 hectares. In contrast to inner cities that are dominated purely by offices and retail, HafenCity offers a broad mix of working, living, education, culture, leisure, tourism, and retail.
In addition to its central location, HafenCity is distinguished by a high level of urbanity, ecological sustainability, and technical innovation. With its outstanding waterfront location and diverse transport links, it is a magnet for leading German and international companies. In addition, there is an intense social mix as well as spectacular parks, public spaces and promenades. HafenCity is already home to more than 8,000 residents and boasts a workforce of approximately 15,000. Famous landmarks such as the Elbphilharmonie concert hall and the cutting-edge retail and experience concept in Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier contribute to its appeal, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.
A modern metropolis needs innovative ideas and sustainable solutions. HafenCity Hamburg GmbH (HCH) has been providing impetus for this for more than two decades. The company’s expertise covers the entire process of planning, negotiating and implementing urban development. This not only benefits HafenCity, Europe's largest inner-city waterfront development project, but also the three other major projects for which HCH and its group companies are responsible: Grasbrook, Billebogen and Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld.
